How would you describe Moderation?

Author Post
I thought is would be cool if we could each post a few words that sum up what moderation means to each of us...(I am sure u will start to form some ideas of your own as you work through the content of the course) its always good to share ideas (and at MG we love ideas) so we would love to know how you might describe the world of moderation to your firends and family ..so to get us started, here is one of my first thoughts 1) "ensuring what we share online is appropriate"
....(try to do it think of your own description with no more than ten words if you can :)
PS we may use the best ones in our new website and facebook promotions - so keep posting your thoughts here :) Ciao for now - Karen, MG team
Hi Karen, My first encounter with the word moderation has always stuck in my mind. It was when I visited Greece as a child.

The Delphi oracle said:
All things in moderation.

Does that count?wink
Annie Slee Hi Karen,

To me moderation means, keeping children safe online.
Hey marc thats a good one :)
Hi Karen, to me a moderator s job is to "inhabit the virtual world keeping the community safe".

Can I say something about being a moderator instead?:
It feels like being the guardian angel of many children and vulnerable adults.
A safe city cannot exist without laws, a safe Internet cannot exist without moderators.
we are the guardians of the internet :D,
keep the community safe and clean
Moderations is:
- children safety guidance,
- keeping internet safe and secure,
- being alert for important, serious and emergency situations,
- somehow "antivirus" function (against unexpected, harmful and malicious intruders),
- acting to reduce violence, racism, any kind of abuse
- safeguard for people, enterprises, countries worldwide
- online problem shooting
Making sure conduct is appropriate, site objectives are on target, relevant information/feedback is relayed in order to improve process/product/service. Safeguard users as well as company/brand.
