Author Post
madis sarapu Hello,
In December 2014 i became certified Moderator, and then i sent my resume for many Moderation companies to get job as a UGC Moderator. Only two companies responded to me and said that they dont need a worker right now but other companies have ignored my job application. And now i would be very pleased if anyone could suggest me where to look for online Moderation job?

Thanks in Advnce
Moderation Team Hi :)

Thanks for your email.

I hope you are following Moderation Gateway's Facebook page as we regularly post job opportunities there. We also use Twitter to publicise any Mod. positions.

If you have not got a lot of moderation experience it may be advisable to try to ensure you are participating in community forums where you may be able to volunteer as a moderator. Any experience you can gather on your way to becoming a professional moderator is very valuable.

We wish you all the best of luck in your job search and please remember that both Emoderation and ICUC (social media agencies) support our training certificate.

Kind regards

MG Team
Bernard Hurte Hello,

I have definitely had a similar experience as @madissarapu. Is experience the main thing that employers are looking for? After I obtained my certification I was able to become a mod (volunteer) on a website. I am currently working on my bachelor's degree. What are other skills or certifications that can help an entry-level moderator stand out?

Thanks
Moderation Team Hi Captoon :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Some companies may have a very rigorous criteria for candidates where as others may be less focused on past qualifications and more focused on knowledge and experience. A successful job application and interview may not be down to one element but rather how closely the candidate matches the job on offer.

It's really encouraging to hear that you are a volunteer moderator. We believe that all experience is very helpful and shows commitment and practical skills.

In answer to your question about other certifications or qualifications - we don't know of any. The MG Moderation Foundation training is the first of it's kind, focusing on best practice an introducing a standard of competence to the moderation industry. Some of the largest agencies such as Emoderation and ICUC support our training and highlight it on their websites. It would be useful to send your CV to these agencies even if they are not recruiting presently so they can contact you directly should they have an opening in the future.

As we also mentioned in our earlier post we do share job opportunities via our social media channels so please keep updated.

We hope this information is helpful and we wish you all the best of luck with finding a moderation job and studying for your bachelor's degree. You are certainly on the right track by showing your committment and becoming a volunteer moderator.

Thanks again for sharing your experience. smile
